DEAR SIRS,
DO ANYBODY KNOW ABOUT USE OF CONTINUOUS PIPE REACTOR FOR HYDROGENATION PROCESS AND CRAKING OF HEAVY OIL CATALITICALLY?ANY SORT OF INFO WILL BE VERY GLAD.

Generally at refineries that can not afford a hydorcracker a visbreaker or a delayed coker is installed. Visbreaking uses thermal cracking without catalysts and delayed coking frees up hydrogen to be used other places. With the scarcity of hydrogen in the refinery it is usually not used for heavy oil upgrading. The handbook of petroleum refining processes has just about every established refining process out there.

Although coking redistributes hydrogen in the hydrocarbon molecules and frees some, the C4-minus coker gas must be treated and fractionated to obtain hydrogen as plant feed. You may visit a Google site with a reprint from Hydrocarbon Processing titled "HP09 Optimize Coker Operations".
