Contrasting Surface Finish 1

Hello,

I am designing a lab scale fixture consisting of a 1'' thick plate of aluminum. On this sheet of Aluminum, there is a rectangle (on the surface, not above the surface) that I would like to have a noticeably different visual look than the rest of the sheet. I want this because I'm using the rectangle as a guide for sample preparation and the lines defining this rectangle needs to be very clear and precise. Does anyone recommend two different contrasting surface finishes that you know would do this? Or do you recommend something else all together? Please keep in mind I'm sending the drawing over to a machine shop so it will be professionally done.

Sure. I don't have access to the drawing so this is the best I can do right now. The blue rectangle is supposed to indicate the area that I would like to look different than the rest of the sheet. It's essentially a 0.5 by 4 inch rectangle used as guidelines for aligning samples accurately.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Take it to a trophy shop and have them laser-etch the rectangle.

Polish the surface and then bead blast the rect (or visa-versa), Whichever surface is blasted will hold die well so it can be colored.
