Hi all
I am working for a revamp project for crude disstilation unit.
The atmospheric column has two side stripper. Level controler of stripper botton send signal to a control valve of draw off line to stripper.
Which type is suitable for this stream' butterfly or globe valve type ?
Best Regards

Is the valve either open or closed, or are you expecting some metering?

If the over head vapor stream from the side stripper returns to the CDU main column a few trays higher up, then available dp for this control valve wouldnt be much at all, and so a low dp butterfly CV would be better. But check that the CV has sufficient turndown capability to suit the side stripper turndown.

Thank you all

line size of kerosene draw off to the stripper is 6 " and for gas oil stripper is 12 "

Rotary valves (control disk) work fine, its low d/p service so cavitation is not an issue.

Work closely with piping design layout.

For this service we used globe valve or ball valve with V-port depending on pressure drop available and difference of actual inlet/outlet pressure and vapor pressure. Layout and elevation of piping are critical.
