I have seen the product Pumpsmart on the internet, that seems to be able to control a pump just by measuring the speed and the current of the pump, whereas a few data from the pump characteristics have to be input up front in order to make the right calculations. Somehow there seems to exist a black box model of a pump, that can be described by the design flow, the power at design condition, the power at shut-off condition and the speed. I would like to learn more about the algorithms behind it or find some references, where I can find more about it.
