Greeting,
Your thoughts would be appreciated to shed some light on the possibility of having Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) on the ControTrace heating panels. These are supplied in bare condition.
Although the highest risk of CUI is occurring in the temperature interval of 170 °F to 230 °F, both API 570, API 510 and API RP 583, clearly identify that CUI can generally occur in the temperature range between 10 °F and 350 °F.
Most Controtrace applications are supplied with LP steam and have an operating temperature within the CUI range.
The question is: should the ControTrace panels be coated to prevent CUI?
Thanks,
