Can some one help me how can we convert PSI into lbf. I am working on one testing fixture whose gauge reads 40psi, I want to convert to lbf, coz the specs in the test is 300lbf. Is some know how we can convert it.
Well PSI is 1 lbf per square foot. So your test should involve an area the pressure is acting on. You need to multiply the area in inch^2 by the 40psi to get your lbf.
Say for example you have a 40psi force acting on a 2" rod of a cylinder. The area of the face of the rod is 3.14 in^2.
