Hi,

I want to convert file of I-Deas 6.3 (mf1 and mf2) to NX(Xpk or prt). But when I try to export the program (I-Deas) saw me this message:

Open I-DEAS initialization failed because ORB initialization time out. The most likely reason for this is that one of the Orbix service is not responding or Orbix has not been installed propely. It is recommended that you terminate I-DEAS immediately and check whether the Orbix sevices are working. Click OK to terminate I-DEAS

Messaes logged in error3132.out

How I can solve this problem.

Thanks a lot!!!

YOu can not Export the entire model file in this manner. You can only export an assembly and or single part within your model file.

File / Interoperate / .xpk export doesn't use or require ORBIX. If you can't export a .xpk your problem lies elsewhere.

Interoperate exports from a Project/Library, have you checked the parts into a Library ?

Do you have the model file open that you want to export assemblies from?

Do you have an assembly in this model file?

It looks like you do not have any assemblies in your model file.

Try going into mangae bins and see if there is an assembly in your model file.

If you are trying to export parts only turn your "View" upper left to parts.

You need to select an assembly and or parts and give it a destination file before you can hit the export.

Make sure you do not have spaces in the path when you export the file out. Try to keep the path simple C:\user\

I try to export but I cant and I dont know if I have assembly in my model file If I have the parts into a library.

How I can to do this?

Thanks

I have the ideas 6.4 in a virtual computer because I have in my computer the NX 8.0 and I don't know if I install the 2 programs in the same computer They can cause conflicts. Do you know?

Thanks for all

What is your final goal? What are you attempting to do. I am confused. Thanks

I have a files (mf1 and mf2) and I want to convert to xpk or prt. But I don't know how I do it. I try to interoperate but I cant select the boton export.

Do you know if I can open the file (mf1 and Mf2) in the NX 8.0??

Thanks

Are you saying that you've checked the assembly into a library and when you go to export it as a .xpk from that same library using interoperate it's not there ?

Are you using teamcenter or The Old I-Deas Team Data mangemtn? (TDM)

I thiks I am usig The Old I-Deas Team Data mangement. But I am not sure.

How I can know this?

I want Interoperate but I cant.

Do you know a program to export mf1 to xpk?

Thanks

Ok try this Hit CTR+M to turn the side menus on.

Type in /xto ug ex

Or type in /xto ug prex

Or just type in /xto ug

These are kind of hidden commands that may work within your model file. These are non supported commands. Next step would be call GTAC. They can walk you through your issues.

Your first screen shot shows that you're looking at an empty TDM. You're data currently resides in a model file which needs to be checked into a library to use the interoperate function. Open Manage Bins and you'll be able to see your assembly/parts and check them into the library. You will be prompted to create a library as you do not appear to have any.
Once you have done this, use the File->Interoperate and browse to the newly created library . (Make sure the view is set to assy's or parts depending on your requirement) and select your assy to export.
Your second screenshot doesn't look like the interoperate dialogue. (It could be the File->Export->NX dialogue, which probably requires a licence, hence the failure).
