Oxalic acid is a diprotic acid, which when fully dissociated in water, splits out as follows

H2C2O4 -> 2 H30+ + C2O4=

H3O+ = hydronium ion
C2O4= = oxalate ion

normality of a n-protic acid is is = (no of moles / litre) x n

So what you have now is a solution with 1 gm mole of oxalic acid / litre of solution.

To dilute it to a 1N solution, add one litre to each litre of the solution you have now ( or 500ml acid to 500ml water)

When mixing, add the acid slowly into the water, and not the other way round, and stir well while adding - use distilled water. Use glass beaker / stirrer and wear gloves/ safety specs
