Cooling Load Program

I am looking to get a new cooling load program and am interrested in some options.
What do you use?
What are some advantages and disadvantages?

I have almost always used Trane Trace and have no reason to change but would like to at least know the options.
This subject is touched on in other treads. Someone below at leats uses the Elite program. How is that?
I am a liitle familiar with Carrier"s but is has been a long time.

I inherritted an office run on dos based Elite CHVAC 8 years ago. I upgraded to the windows version and I have no complaints

Take the "V" out of HVAC and you are left with a HAC(k) job.

I've never used anything but Trace but would also like to know about other options. I would like a program that handles dx equipment. Trace takes a bit of manipulation to model dx.

We use Carrier's HAP program. It does a pretty good job. It's fairly easy to understand and input all the information. It does handle DX units, but Trane reps complain about the outputs. Trane uses 400 CFM per ton as a rule of thumb and HAP will size equipment differently.

HAP has it's limitations, but it does a pretty good job for us.

Yeah I have heard ofr Tranes 400 rule of thumb but have heard more lately of 350 per ton from most others. when doing static measurements and looking up the total for CFM we use the pubs for proper airflow and adjust the blower speed accordingly. granted with some of the HvAC jobs out there your statics get screwy with the available duct work, but you dont have much choice sometimes. So you just have to push more air. Of course in a perfect world.... the customer would let you redo the ductwork. hehehe
