Hello, I'm new to ENG-tips and I can say it's a great place for learning. My question is, what is the down side of taking Cooling tower blowdown that runs less than 3 cycles and < 1000 us/cm on the tower. Well water make up is from(Florida.aquafer) and Grey water from the city and using some of it to make up to are Raw water tank, then is sent to 1 of 3 Multi Media sand Filter then To 1 of 3 WAC or Weak Acid Cations, degasifiers system, and then to 1 of 3 Hero units that each can do 235 gpm @ 480 psi. with 88 % recovery, inlet ph 10.5 to 11 with a reject of 30 gal, permeat at 197 gpm and conductivity of < 50us/cm on permeata. Once permeat is out of the Hero units it goes to a holding tank were it then comes back thru 1 of 3 Rental Mixed beds that see Conductivity less than 30 us/cm. Also a note! that Are water system is designed to run on the grey water/reclaim! Designer of Water system is by Aquatech. If any of you chemical guys can help it would be greatly appreciated. I have seen test pilots done, but they were using ZLD system with clairfiers, crystallizers, and Gravity sand filters. Can are process be done with out adding any of the above major ZLD equip. and what would be the concerns with chemical wise as far a foulents ect... Chemical used in are process are Polymer, sodium Bicarbornet, sodium bisulfite, Hydrochloric Acid and Caustic. Reason for the question is very tight water discharge or blowdown to the city and well water usage limits from the Florida aquafer. Thanks for any input
