MY BOSS FEELS SINCE I HAVE BEEN DOING CONSTRUCTION LAYOUT FOR YEARS I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE DESIGN SURVEYING USING A TOPCON TOTALSTATION WITHOUT BLINKING. I AM FINDING THAT THINGS LIKE TRAVERSES ETC ARE DIFFERENT USING COORDINATES. CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A GOOD SURVEYING BOOK OR MANUAL THAT WILL NOT BEND MY MIND?

mikewi,
Use the Topcon. You can shoot angles with it just the same as you always have. You can transition to coordinates when you're ready. It probably won't take you long to learn on your own just by using the owner's manual. Find someone in your area to help you out if you need to.
Best regards,
Michael
