Hi all,

I'm doing something wrong somewhere in NX with an assembly, and I'm not sure what it is. I'll try and explain...

I have an assembly consisting six different parts. Three of these parts are used twice in the assembly. The assembly is a part family template, with three family members/assemblies where the arrangement is as follows:

Assy 1
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4 x 2

Assy 2
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 5 x 2

Assy 3
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 6 x 2

Now, I am not sure what is happening, but on the 2D drawing, parts 4, 5 & 6 do not share a common line in the parts list. Instead, they have their own (so for example, I have two lines with a part name 'Part 4'). I have created the 2D drawing on the template, where the parts list uses the default 'arrangement 1', showing all parts. The views show my arrangement 'Assy 1'.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? It seems to be something to do with the part families I am sure, as other assemblies I have created, where multiples of non part family components are used do not have this problem (i.e. four screws show as one line in the parts list, with a qty of 4).

Any help would be most appreciated. Running NX 7.5 without teamcenter

Hi,
Have you tried packing the components? Right click either Part 4, 5 or 6 in the assembly navigator and click "Pack". See if this updates the parts list on your drawing to have 1 line with a qty of 2.

I think I have seen this before and to correct it I had to unlock the rows of my parts list and then update it.

Hi all, thanks for your replies. I tried the suggestions above, but it did not seem to change the behaviour of the parts list. I just created a new drawing and all was well again. But very strange why this happened in the first place...

Thanks again!
