NX 8.5
Is there a way I can copy views, annotation, dimensions etc. from a sheet in one drawing file and paste them to a sheet in another drawing file? Thank you.

Don't know about 8.5, bit in 7.5 you can:

1) Edit -> View -> Move/Copy View -> To Another Drawing

or

2) Click on, hold and move views in the Part Navigator from one drawing sheet to another.

To another drawing file ? No (at least not that I know of)
But you can copy them to another drawing sheet in the same file

Yes, I have tried copy and paste. It pastes the views but not the dimensions.

When I tried, it copied both the view and the dimensions, but the dimensions became unassociated (retained) and I had to re-associate them. Annoying, but better than starting from scratch.

Do you have the 'retain annotations' option turned on? (Preferences -> drafting -> annotation)

try using this (I am in NX7.5)
Edit -> View -> Move/Copy View -> toggle copy vies "On" & select "to another drawing" -> select drawing in list -> OK
the dims should copy with it

What is it you expect to happen when you copy ? Or rather, what is it you would like to achieve when trying to copy a view between different parts ?
This particular drawing file shows/ contains a specific model/assembly. The other drawing shows ?
If you copy the view, what should it show ?
I'm not asking this in hostile mode, just trying to understand the request. :)

Pretty much exactly what you'd think. I want to duplicate a 100%, all inclusive, identical carbon copy of a drawing and place it in a different drawing. Here's the full scenario. I have two large weldment drawings that I'm working on, nearly identical but one is a left hand and the other is the right hand. Both weldements are made up of the exact same set of 28 unique pieces. However, the pieces are assembled differently to make the left and right hand versions. So far, I have fully detailed the left hand weldment and sheet 2 of the left hand weldment which is the detail drawings for the 28 individual pieces. I have also detailed the right hand weldment. Now I need a sheet 2 for the right hand weldment, which is identical to sheet 2 of the left hand weldment. I don't want to do the work all over again so, I wanted to copy and paste all of my detail drawings for the 28 individual pieces from sheet 2 of the left hand to sheet 2 of the right hand. Yes, I know there are other ways I could have structured my drawing hierarchy to accomplish this without having to copy/paste. I just wanted to know...can I copy/paste a drawing, title block, dimensions, annotation, etc. to another file. This is easily done in other software packages CAD or non-CAD, so it seems reasonable to think that I should be able to do it in NX.

That's a valid case.
I think you must do a combo, First go to the drawing where you have done the most work, File - export- Part - drawing selection select the sheet(s),
Part Specification = existing , select the other drawing. OK
This should copy the sheet and the views, i don't think that it will copy the dimensions.
The dimensions can be copy-pasted but you probably need to re-associate them .

The simplest way to handle cases like this, with the least amount of rework, is to finish "drawing-left". Save, close. Create a copy of the drawing.
rename to "drawing-right", then open in NX and replace the model.

Tomas

I have the command "edit - view - copy/move view" but the feature for copying to another drawing is greyed out...
is this part of a special license? maybe drafting plus?

No, I just recently got that too, and I don't remember what I did you fix it.
Maybe make sure you are in the Drafting module and not in Gateway.

and there has to be another drawing available to copy it too

I found it but it is not possible to copy to another drawing FILE but only to another drawing SHEET in the same file. This can also be done by copy and paste...
