Copy UID and Csys properties from one part to another

Hi all

I'm wondering if there is any way to copy the UID and Csys properties* of one part to a part that has already been created and in this way obtain a "replacement component" with no errors during replace in ass. mode?

I'm running NX7.5 native.

Thanks in advance

*I'm using Csys as touch align constraints in ass.

You can try to import the original part into the new one, then delete all features except the UID an CSYS. They should be on same place as the original one and if you're lucky the constraints will remain after replacement component.

Thanks for the tip Micky.

I can use the import for the csys and then replace the old ones with the new. However the import feature doesn't change the UID of the new part to the UID of the origin one. So I still get the message "component to replace is not a version of replacement part"

I know clone works but it can't be applied to a part that's already been created.

Any other suggestions of how to copy the Unique ID?

Best regards,

Sillen

Try work in the other direction. Can you create a new version of the old part? Let's say xxxx/1-01 to xxxx/1-02? Then import (File - import - part...) the new part into the old one. Delete all the features except the imported ones and the old CSYS. Then you have the UID and CSYS with the new features.

Best regards,

Michaël.

I guess, without Teamcenter, the only way of creating a version of the old part, and maintain the UID, is to clone it. I can do that and delete everything except the Csystems, make the ones from the clone unassociative so that I can move them and once they're moved I can replace the ones from the imported part with the origin and in this way keep the constraints working!

I was hoping for a magic text file, or similar, where I can change the UID/attributes/properties with just copy and paste.

However this works, Thanks for the input Micky!

The UID is, to my knowledge , not possible to copy it is the id-number of the file.
If you run the ug_inspect.exe ( in the UGII directory) you can see the UID.
The only way to copy the UID is to copy the file. Either in Windows or thru Save-as in NX. ( + cloning which is a form of save as.)

Why can't you turn off the "Allow replacement" under Load Options ?
Allow replacement is the option that checks if the UID matches or not.

Ok thanks for your information Toost!

I will look into ug_inspect. There will be many people involved during the design phase in NX and "allow replacement" is a way to reduce the risk of human mistakes and that's why I don't want to turn it of.

Also later I will look into the possibility to use a product configurator and I imagine it will be easier to set up if the fitting variants share the same UID.

Best Regards
