I know it's possible to copy a drawing view and paste it into a second drawing.

But is it possible to do it with a link back to the original drawing?

We have drawings containing common details with the exact same views and dimensions and annotations. We expect many changes and would like to only make the drawing revisions once, and also have a set of drawing views that always match.

Hi jackk,

You will have always those links if you will do exactly how you said.

Still, for many companies this is not a recommended way of work. My suggestion is to create a 2D catalog with all these common things and use it for this purpose.

I suppose you know how to do this, if not, I remember there is a post here in the forum about this.

Fernando

Catalog might be the solution. Thanks Fernando. I'll look into that.

(I always thought of catalog components as little drawing symbols, but I guess they can be complete views with dimensions and other stuff)

I don't understand your first sentence. Is there another way other then Copy and Paste Special in the drafting workbench?

No, you are right, copy-paste is one way , using catalogs is the second one.

Fernando
