I have a drawing file with multiple sheets with views, tables, notes, etc. I have a second file that is very similar and I would like to duplicate
several of the sheets in the first file into the second file, so that I don't have to recreate them.

The files already exist or I would so a save as.

any thoughts on how to copy views, formats, text, etc from one to the other?

Thanks.

Hi Claire and or Mabel [smile]

Just use File-Export-Part and select the sheet to be exported to the other file.

Keep in mind that if the model in your second file isn't derived from the the first one, asuming you are working according master-model, ( i.e. not a save as from the first file) you wil loose associativity on dimensions etc.

Ronald-
This works beautifully! Exactly the solution I was looking for. Thank you!

Hi Ronald,

I find myself exactly in the same situation. Could you give more detail of the procedure to follow in order to copy the sheet. For example, where in the dialog do we select the other drawing to export to? (I am linked with Teamcenter)

Hi Etienne.

With the Drawing, you would like to copy, openend go to;

[ol 1]
[li]File - export - part[/li]
[li]In "Part specification" select "Existing"[/li]
[li]Select "Specify Part" and search the drawing which you would like to copy your sheet to.[/li]
[li]Select "Drawing Selection" This will show a list of all sheets in the Drawing to be copied from.[/li]
[li]Select your sheet you want to copy.[/li]
[li]The rest of the settings I would leave as is for now. They would serve your needs for now.[/li]
[li]Select OK to start the copy action. The selected sheet(s) will be copied to the part you heave specified.[/li]
[/ol]

You will find your copied sheet in the part navigator of your destination file. You will need to activate it by double clicking it in te part navigator.

Thank you so much! Now I just need to figure out how to make views keep their associativity. (Drawings are under an assembly drawing which contains piece part details)
