Hi als,
we installed coriolis mas flow meter on methanol truck loading vertical position. you can see in this photo, however on commissioning flow meter does not read flow. can anyone explain whither installation is correct or not.
Thanks.

Hi, we have everything for Methanol, this flow meter range is 13-50 m3/hr while our pump capacity is 215 m3/hr and pressure is 8 barg.
is there is high flow rate problem for this flow meter?

Hi,
Did you contact Vendor, what is the feedback?
This equipment is not suitable for two phase flow. Possibility for air entry /bubbles formation?
Do you get any signal or no signal? Is the equipment well connected?
What says the Instrument guy who installed the equipment?
Why don't you have the representative of the vendor at site during commissioning?
You seem not knowing what you can get from the meter.

Pierre

Pierreick,
Methanol is single phase liquid. but will ask instrument guy for signal connection. vendor specialist was not present the moment they commissioned.

Better to check if everything power supply, hot loop, range incorporation , fluid data is incorporated then to move on to next point. Orientation seems fine. Also it is at pump discharge, please check pump duty point /normal operating point , range should be covered within the pump operating range I think imo.

Have you throttled the manual valve near the loading station, so backpressure will keep the methanol liquid in the meter while flowing?

Good Luck,
Latexman

MIANCH,

There's not much to go on here.

"Flow meter does not read flow"
Does it have power?
Does it say anything?
Any error codes?
Is it just a local read out?
Does it have density set right?
What make and model is it?
How are you controlling flow?
Meter looks very close to filter? and an elbow.
Even coriolis meters like a certain straight length upstream

Pump is 250, but max flow on the meter is 50?
250m3hr for tanker loading is far too fast.
Maybe the meter is out of range?

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Flow meter design parameters.
Design flow:200, 500, 700 m3/hr
Design pressure: 16.6 barg
Operating range: 13,40,50 m3/hr
Operating pressure: 5 barg.
I think problem with meter settings, our guys set max flow 50 m3/hr.
This is for your information and comments if any.
Best regards

hi,
Don't forget your flow meter should work as a totalizer! mass = sum( flow *time)
To me the flow should be managed at 50 m3/h max. I suppose there is a control valve to manage this flow.
note:Why did you install a filter upstream the flow meter, it should be a the suction of the pump?
very weird set up.
Pierre

no need to worry, this installed some 40 year ago and flowmeter just few months back, before, tanker was loading and dipstick was used to measure the quantity, now they want to measure with flow meter, just waste of money.
