Coriolis meter for gas and liquid onsite proving

Hi,

in the frame of geting a local regulatory approval, we are asked to do the proving of coriolis meters onsite. Some of the meters are for gas and others are for liquid. The problem is that the manufacturer said that there's no way to do the proving onsite while the local legal metrology insist to do the onsite proving. Is there a way to do the proving of coriolis meter onsite ? How to do it exactly (master meter ? tank prover ?) knowing that we don't have any testbed,

Do you have space to install the master meter in series with the test meter?

In fact i'm facing two cases, there is some locations where we can install a master meters other locations not.

Can you try the clamp-on flow meter?
I used it to verify the condensate flow before.

No agency is going to accept a clamp on meter to "prove" a custody transfer meter.

Ron Beatty and I did a presentation at Southwest Research a few years ago that talks about many of the issues. Bottom line is that of course the manufacturer is correct and you simply cannot "prove" a coriolis meter. You might be able to drop in a V-cone (they don't take much space, don't require conditioned flow or long runs of straight pipe, and they are a fantastic flow conditioner) in front of the coriolis meters and show the regulators that the two meters provide the same numbers (they probably will in the liquid service, the gas service might surprise you how bad the coriolis is). At the end of the evaluation you might consider just tossing the coriollis meters and leaving the V-cones.
