I have lots of problems copying elements and moving elements/nodes in Staad. In my current model, I have two (meshed) plates offset by a distance with master-slave nodes connecting one edge of each plate. The slave nodes are connected to their plate via short beams so I can see the forces acting between the two plates. I selected all nodes of both plates and the short beams then moved them by a distance for viewing reasons. After the move, the master-slave specifications aren't assigned to the slave nodes any more though the specifications still exist. They need to be reassigned.
The same move caused Staad to give errors that the short beams don't have an E (modulus) specified. However they still had their material property assigned. I had to assign a different property then re-assign the correct property.
In the past, I have also copied a diagonal bracing member from one bay of a structure to another. This caused the support at the destination bay to be deleted, presumably because there wasn't a support at the source bay. But why does this happen when I'm copying a member and the support is assigned to the node? I didn't modify the node, just connected a member to it.
Is there some trick that prevents Staad losing parameters in the copy/move process?
