These are not subjects anyone will reseach and publish papers on.
The topics will not get much recognition!

Normally legs (and other members as well!) of transmission towers
would be galvanised. If the location is close to sea, (coastal
region) they can be painted. That will give a better appearance,
in addition to corrosion protection.

Lamp post, being in places where there is constant presence of
people, should be painted for good appearance. This will
automatically protect the post from corrosion.

I work for the corrosion control department of a large construction & engineering firm on the east coast. We are currently providing a service to a large power producer on east coast that pertains to this topic. Our project consists of producing a verifiable model of the corrosion effecting the transmission tower legs, and then surveying the towers to both prove the model and provide a basis for a long term care and replacement program.

We are also conducting interviews with other power transmission groups to determine the industrywide need for this service.
