Dear all. Does any know if according to ASME VIII is it required to perform any test to heat exchanger tubes related to corrosión performance?.. I have a heat exchanger which Will be used in corrosive considition (tubes made of Inconel 625 - the fluid is molten salts.. average working temperatura around 630 °C.)
Any comments Will be appreciated.

The answer is no for ASME Code. This is a process detail and corrosion testing is optional and at the discretion of the Purchaser. The only requirement for corrosion testing would be what is required in the material specification for the tube material.

Thanks Metengr.. I supposed so. i have requested for MTR and check if any tests related what I am searching for are included.

This sounds like an application for a solar receiver. The Inconel 625 is typical tube material used with nitrate salts and as long as the tube material has been properly solution annealed, there is no reason for supplemental corrosion testing for this application.

There are no ASTM or ASME tube specification that require any testing of corrosion resistance.
What are you hoping to find?
What requirements were on the PO?

well.. In fact this inconel 625 is used for solar receivers. Molten salts are high corrosive above (more or less of 630°C).. our concerns is due to engineering design had considered that solar receiver can Works upper the 630°C.. closely to 650°C.. so corrosión can be a problem in the near future. In regards of that, people thinks if the solar receivers (which was fabricated unber ASME VIII) could have been tested to check check proper resistant to this temperature.. Personally I think very difficult that this kind of test to probe if engieering was OK could be done.
