Hi:
For simple FEA structural analysis, just linear, which one is best COSMOS or ANSYS DesignSpace??
Help appreciated,
Thanks

From my personal experience, (I might be wrong), I have found Design Space to be a much easy to use and accurate for my needs. And since you are mentioning "Simple" which I assume you meant "linear", then I would definitely try Design Space.

I have been using DesignSpace extensively for last 2 years. And have used it to model assemblies (up to 15 components),different type of contacts (linear or nonlinear). Before we began using the software in production we have done strain gage corelation. I would say the results have been satisfactory. I do not use the adaptive meshing feature (convergence). I have also used the software to carry out geometric optimization.

I work for a company that manufactures gas compressors. Recently I have used this software for Design and Analysis of a large compressor. We use Mechanical Desktop as the CAD package. We have had no problems importing very large assemblies into DesignSpace for Analysis. Infact it is amazing how seamless the process of importing geometries into the FEA software has become.
I do not know too much about COSMOS.A coleague of mine had evaluated both DesignSpace and COSMOS packages at the time of purchase and decided to go for DesignSpace.Since we purchased the software two years ago ANSYS have made significant upgrades to DesignSpace software.
Hope this helps.

Thanks ramshree and Gurmeet2003, I sincerely appreciate your comments. Have a great day
