Cost for Removal of Storm Manhole/Inlet

What would be a good general cost for Removal of Storm Manhole/Inlet? Just ballpark, for estimating. I'd like to price by Each unit, but some are very deep, so maybe I'll need a Verticle Foot unit? A source will help.

I'm in PA, USA, but if you tell me where your cost is valid, I can convert.

assume backhoe for about 1 - 2 hours to excavate (depending upon depth and size), remove the structure and load into dump truck to haul away. Size of hoe is dependant upon size / depth of manhole. Will need laborer(s) with a saw or other equipment to cut and plug the pipes. Either brick and mortar plug, or remove a joint and use pre-made plug on the end. Bring in clean fill to backfill and compact the hole. If in a street, you will also need to cut the asphalt and then place road base, compact and patch the asphalt. Don't forget shoring for deep excavation or slope the hole. Also, dewatering if water table is high. If dealing with AC pipe, factor in cost of removing this hazardous material.

Generic cost is difficult to quote with all the variables / unknowns

Is this removal part of a larger project? If that's the case, then the cost is going to be a lot less than if all the move-in, disposal, and restoration must be included in this one item.

Your price will certainly vary based upon the size of the project and the size of your structures.

just a glance at the most recent illinois prices shows it varies from about $150 to $1,200 and another bid item to fill (backfill the hole) also is shown which goes as high as $2,200 per manhole. Unfortunately, these really give no idea of the scope of work or size of project involved

Thanks everyone. I should have emphasized the "general cost" and "Just ballpark, for estimating." parts more...this was for a bonding estimate, not for a bid. So, just like in horseshoes and hand grenades, close is good enough.

Unit costs for backfill were not necessary, it is a redevelopment, entire Limits are regraded.
