Our employer is pushing for cost savings ideas. Our reward: "satisfaction".

I have heard of companies offering rewards to employees with cost saving ideas, some with lump some rewards, some proportional to realized savings.

Does anyone out there have a real-life example of any such programs?

An old business owner once told me, "I'll reward you for your ideas with continued employment at your current rate of pay. If you want more, feel free to contribute capital."

Isn't that the essence of our businesses anyway? We're units of production, no more or less than assembly-line worker sticking circuit boards into enclosures. Sometimes we get something back in the way of a bonus, but most often we work for the goals of the corporation without expectation of personal gain. I dunno... I've been on both ends of the hose....

Thanks for depressing me at the end of my Monday!

15-20 yrs ago I heard of companies rewarding employees up to 10% of the savings. Don't know of any companies doing it anymore. (maybe in sales or upper mngmt)
