For a counterbored hole feature with a positional control FCF, is the base (flat) surface of the counterbore controlled by the FCF?
We are attempting to get our MBD definitions in line with what a CMM can consume. A CMM vendor has told use that the bottom of the counterbore is not considered a controlled surface relative to the FCF.
TIA!

tim_member beat me to it. ASME does not allow application of a position control to a non FOS planar feature (ie: the flat bottom of a counterbored hole), so my answer would be no.

Obviously a depth can be specified next to the diameter dimension, however it would be separate from the position control.

Thanks! I should have realized that!
We'll have to dimension the depth separately instead of relying on the feature definition provided by NX.

Typo, corrected to CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine)[morning]
