Is there an easy way to compare CPU performance when applied to CAD applications? I’ve been looking at cpubenchmark.net but their Passmark score is generated by tests that run multi-thread applications that can take full advantage of multi-core processors. As we all know, most CAD applications are single thread and can only make limited use of multi-core CPUs so I’m concerned that the Passmark score is not truly relevant for CAD use.

I’m looking for a high end 64bit machine to run ProE, Catia UG.

Thanks.

This site has Pro/E benchmark results as well as the files to run your own benchmark.
It gives results for various things like CPU, graphics, disk IO and a few others.
From my experience with NX and Pro/E, good numbers for the benchmark are usually good on NX, too.
There is a SPEC benchmark that does NX and Pro/E, but I don't have the link anymore.
