Hello there!
I have been trying to model a crack propagation problem for quite some time now. I have taken a simple double cantilever beam as my problem of consideration. I am using a direct cyclic step and using VCCT debonding for modelling the crack. I have applied loads such that the double cantilever 'opens up'. I have also been following this sample problem solved for the double cantilever beam as seen in the link below. I have modelled the double cantilever beam using shell elements, just like the sample problem.
The input file for the sample solved problem is given below.
My setup of the problem is the input file given below.
The problem is that my simulation doesn't show any propagation of the crack. Moreover, when I run the sample problem input file, it directly skips to the time where the fracture takes place. I am not able to see how we are supposed to make that happen. It would be helpful if you could tell me what I am missing!
