Hello,

I have some tube welded together, I succeed to create these tubes as a solid model but now I have to add some angle plate or gusset between them.
These plates are really important in these high stress areas. But it's seems quite difficult to create them. I could add them as a solid model, or maybe just had some contact constraints between the tubes in the plate area.

Have you some ideas to solve this problem, or tips to create the solid model?

Thanks for all,

Best Regards,

Mickaël

Could you describe why is the modeling of the plates difficult? Without knowing the geometry it is hard to say what method to use.

My first guess, one should be able to solve the problem using the boolean operation as VADD.

Actually, there is two tubes with an angle about 20° between them and I don't know how to add this plate which is basically a triangle located at the intersection of the tubes and in contact with both tube over 30 mm. My first techniques was to draw some line to skectch the triangle and then create an area but it seems difficult to place the keypoint at the right place. Then I would use the contact manager to create th link

Thank you,

Mickaël

The position of the key points at the intersection of the tubes must not be exact if you are using the command VADD. You can define the Plate so that it intersect the two tubes about half the thickness of the tubes. Then VADD will do the rest.
