Hi All,

I am a UG NX 6 newbie, and this has perhaps been asked before but here goes. I open a new part and add several splines ( insert curve -> spline -> thru pts -> pts from file) and several lines etc. when I am done, I can see all the curves I created, but my model history list is empty. So, when I export as iges, I get nothing for geometry.

I am sure the curves are there, but where ? And how can I export them out correctly.

Thanks for your help. Happy Holidays to all

The reason that your "model history" is empty is because none of the curves which you've created are considered Features and only features can have a 'history'. Now this has nothing to do with IGES since IGES was developed BEFORE there really was much of anything known as "model history" so that certainly is NOT a requirement nor a prerequisite.

As for the IGES export operation, try saving the NX part file first and running the...

File -> Export -> IGES...

...by selecting the 'Existing Part' rather than Exporting it from the 'Displayed part'.

John,

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to add that this is for a mesh generation program (ICEM) which needs every line and spline as a separate part, so that it can be selected, and bc assigned bc etc. I have exported from UG before, and all my curves ended up as separate entities, but not this time.

I will try your export with existing part and see if that does the trick.

Thnaks again.
