Creating a cylinder - revolution or extrusion?

Hello, I am using Abaqus as part of a project for modeling bone fluid flow. To begin with, I am creating a cylinder that represents an osteon. I have two questions regarding this.

1) Is there a reason to create a rectangle and use revolutions as oppopsed to creating a circle and using extrusion?

2) (this partially answers the above question) When I do use a rectangle and revolution, I end up with a line on the cylinder, parallel to its axis on its exterior. Is there any way to remove this line?

bmeguy,

Both the methods are equivalent. Why do you want to remove the line. The line represents an edge.

Use the line to partition the cylinder into 180 degrees, and then 90 degrees segments. You'll get a better looking mesh then.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Gurmeet, I wanted to remove the line because I don't want an edge. At least I don't see why I would want one.

You can remove it in the ODB viewer, which is the only place I'd think you could possibly want it gone. Having it is a good thing, because it is another location for the global seeder to, um, well... seed, addind a lttle bit more order to the meshing process. Partioning the cylender into quarters like corus said will help clean it up more, but one is still better than zero.
