Hello,

I have a steel frame for which I am running a Response spectrum analysis. I would like to impose that no elongation is present in the beam using a coupling constraint, but at the same time a boundary condition is defined in the nodes preventing the vertical displacement. Can you please tell me how to properly do this, as I get an error:
Whenever a translation (rotation) dof at a node is constrained by a kinematic coupling definition the translation (rotation) dofs for that node cannot be included in any other constraint including mpcs, rigid bodies, etc.

Apply the BC for the vertical displacement also on the ref node of the coupling and not the element nodes.
Or deactivate that DOF within the coupling.

I cannot apply the BC on a reference point if that is what you meant. How should I deactivate the DOF more exactly?

Could someone help me with applying the Boundary conditions and a constraint in the same node? Has anybody experienced any problems with this?

So there is no possible way to constrain two nodes and have a BC in one of them?
