Creating new work planes-argh

Hi,

I am trying to make a loft, but I can't for the life of me make the work planes needed. I have a circle drawn in the default XY plane, and the other 2 planes visible. I want to make another set of 3 planes behind the face of the circle, and also move it over. I have tried clicking the work pane tool, clicking a work pane, and moving it, but that only moves it about its axis, not 3d. How can I do this?

what do you mean by move it over? Is this what you want; your origin planes are at x-0, y-0, z-0 and you want another plane at x-3, y-0, z-3? So that you have a plane parallel to the xy plane but 3in back of z-0 and 3in over from x-0?

Why? You are creating "PLANES", a theoretical 2d surface that is infinitely large. All you need is a plane that is offset from your origin in Z and then SKETCH your lofted shape the X offset distance from the original sketch.

I can't look at the example you provided now (different computer). But for why, because the tutorial on lofting said to (manual->loft->create loft->video). Perhaps the manual gives a less efficient method?

Okay, But I can assure you that you don't need to, and for that matter can't, move a plane in any other direction than parallel to the origin plane. A plane is and always will be as large in any 2d direction as you need it to be. Create your plane offset parallel to the original plane however far it needs to be in the Z direction, and then create the geometry that is supposed to be offset in the X or Y directions. Loft.
