For Re between 2000 and 4000 the flow is unstable and there actually is no definite friction factor. Churchill's equation does give unique values in this range, which makes computer solutions feasible but you should avoid this zone in practice. See the FAQ by quark in this regard faq378-1236

If moving fluid from one place to another is your intent, it should be easy to avoid the critical zone, unless you have a non-newtonian fluid and you can't avoid it in some segmants of the pipe.
