Good Day!
How can I input clad in Compress? Is it acceptable to input clad as inner corrosion allowance? Please advise. Thanks!

valeriano, you can input that way, but New & Cold MAWP's may not be correct, if that is important to you. You can ignore the clad altogether, using base metal dimensions and zero CA, some other inaccuracies (such as weights) will likely occur.

Should say I am speaking generally, as I am not familiar with Compress.

The other program PV Elite can not deal with clad plate or weld overlay correctly. Don't know when they will realize clad plate is not uncommon and to program it correctly. Also, user has the choice to consider it as part of the pressure part per code.

What you can do is ignore the cladding and model the base metal with a CA=0. This will give accurate MAWP/MAP values.

To account for the additional weight of the cladding, you can add a lining under the menu: Attach -> Linings. This will ensure weight is considered for seismic calculations.

I've found that to be the most accurate.

For example; ID=1800, if I consider 3mm clad as lining in compress, do I need to input 1806 for ID?
I'm just thinking too much.

valeriano, that's exactly what I do. It's probably splitting hairs, but it's conservative.

I do not agree.
Please see Ug-16 (e) Corrosion Allowance in Design Formulas. The dimensional symbols used in all design formulas throughout
this Division represent dimensions in the corroded condition.
If ID =1800 and clad =3 mm hence ID =1800 represent dimension in the corroded condition. ID= 1794 mm is for new condition (not corroded).
