I have a question regarding Hydropneumatic Expansion Tank vessels. Paragraph 7.4.3 states: "Hydropneumatic tanks shall have a minimum design pressure of 690 kpa and meet the requirements Section VIII, Division 1 of the ASME Code. A hydropneumatic tank with a maximum diameter of 610 mm, a total volume of 450 L or less and a temperature of 65C or less shall not be subject to the requirements of this Standard."

So does this mean if a hydropneumatic tank is 610mm in diameter, less than 450L volume and a temperature less than 65C it does not have to meet the requirements of ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 (no overpressure protection required, no Manufacturer's Data Report, etc.?

Thanks

Reading the Code, it looks like you are correct. You are still required to register the design. Better check with one of the Engineers in the province you are registering to make sure you are in the right track.

Thank you for the reply. But if the equipment is exempt from the CSA B51 Standard, why would a CRN be required? I'm not getting good replies from the provincial AI.
