The new Ctopher's Material Database is now available for download from my site and from [blue]SolidWorks Legion[/blue]. Two versions are available, one for [blue]SolidWorks 2008[/blue]...one for [blue]SolidWorks 2007 and older[/blue]. Some 2008 materials had conflicts with older versions, so they were split up.
Special thanks to Matt (fcsuper) for his help and others for their material data contributions. [thumbsup2]

Thanks, and have fun!

Oops. It's late.
I just realized after reading my post 20 times, it read like there are two separate files...one in my site and one in the Legion site. They are both the same downloadable files.
Sorry.[blush]

Thank you.

Thanks, Chris. This is an excellent resource. I just wish SW would get their crap in a pile long enough to put something like this together in the first place. But then what would we have to do all day?

Dan

Thanks again (my third download and a star for each!).

Now if I could get RealView finishes that look like what I'm used to seeing like polyurethane with runs and cat hair in it or over cooked anodized aluminum....

You're all welcome!

Dan,
That would be too easy! [lol]

Harold,
For a price, I think we can come up with something. I have cats, so it wouldn't be too hard. [lol]

Thanks guys.

Chris....how much of this is done through the material editor and how much manual file edit?

Jason,
Depends on the material. Maybe 70/30?
Most through the material editor. Some properties are not available to add in the editor, then SW comes back asking for more info. So, it has to be changed manually.

I see what's there merely complements whats in the SolidWorks material database. Have you thought of adding everything into your one database so there is only one place to look for all materials?

I have thought of it, but I didn't want to confuse others why there are two of the same material. It would be nice if SW added ALL materials per Dan's (Eltron) suggestion. But they don't, that's why I was put on this Earth...to finish the job! [2thumbsup]

Any idea what the "matid" number is in the Solidworks materials?
