How do I make SolidWorks 2005 fill in my custom properties in my (.sldprt)(.sldasm)(.slddrw). Sometimes all I need to do is add a couple extra properties depending on what I'm doing for a particular customer, in my templates and formats I already have a few proporties set inside both of these files. I was kinda hoping that someone can guide me into a quick method so all I have to do is push a button and define the macro which a few keystokes and SW would fill in my new properties names and place "-" in value column. Can anyone help ?

Can you be a bit more clear on what you want to do.

You can set-up seperate templates that define a particular material that you are going to use and then have the particular fields filled out in the template. Then each time you use that template the fields will always be the same, and fill out the remaining fields by keying them in.

There are many custom property macros that are free on the internet that can be easily customized for your particular needs. I recommend starting here for macros

Jon,
I would not recommend using templates to control material notes in a drawing or any other information that changes from one drawing to another. Reason - because every time your template changes you have to change several templates. For example we changed our company name 3 times since starting SolidWorks. The next time we changed the text size for notes.

I just meant putting part specific properties in the template. Like Material, Mass, Heat Treatment, etc. then your templates can be set up like Steel, Brass, Plastic, etc.
