We are a small/medium size custom fabricator doing heavy equipment construction for the pulp and paper, offshore oil and gas, and petroleum industries.
Have been looking for software to provide features beyond Microsoft Project.
A number of very diverse companies locally are using SYSPRO enterprise software. In our industry estimating is critical and standard costing is not practical because of work variety, part numbers are not assigned and a work breakdown structure format is used to define the product.
SYSPRO scheduling appears to be MRP based rather than project based, and the estimating appears to use standard costing. What is the experience with this software product in similar industries as ours and is it really applicable to our type of industry?
