Can anyone direct me to anywhere I can find out how to model & use a custom cutter in Advanced Machining. Catia is very limited to the types of cutter you can use. I've had a look at the help files etc but can't find anything

What type of modification are you looking for? you could always use User Representation to visully see the form cutter while programming.

Regards

I would like to create a custom Bull Nose Type Cutter that taper from Dia 20mm To Dia 16, to cut inside a closed angle.
I don't just want to create a representation because the tapered part of this cutter will be used for scanning some areas of the part, that & I'm also not sure how to do this. I also need to create custom cutters that are used to form shapes.

I'm afraid after much searching and discussion with several support companies and Dassault directly I have come to the resolve that most custom cutters cannot be defined in Catia. Especially ones that you would like to use for tanto type operations.

This would be a huge improvement request from us NC guys using V5.

Thanks NCProgrammer you confirmed what I thought. Wouldn't it be good if you could just model the Tool up & Catia used it to generate the cutter paths like most other CAD/CAM Systems!
User representaion is ok for video replay but I have Vericut for that!
