Did you save a Role after you made your changes? If you had you could have reestablished them by reselecting the Role. It sounds like your 'user.mtx' file is not being read when you restart your new session.

If you're running NX 8.5 or older you will find your 'user.mtx' file at...

C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Unigrphics Solutions\<version of NX being run>

If you're running NX 9.0 or newer version of NX it will be located at...

C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Siemens\<version of NX being run>

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

In versions up to NX8.5 ( don't know if this still works the same in the ribbon UIF or not)
There is a Preferences - USer interface - Layout- save layout at exit,
Which if ON, saves the "appearance" when exiting.
( It should not affect shortcuts, but still valid to check.)

What Toost explains does still work the same in NX9
However, we have still experienced this problem to some degree in the past. If we set up our toolbars in customization, and close out of NX by simply clicking the red "x" at the top right, sometimes it does not remember the settings. We have found that if you save your work, close all parts, the actually go to File Exit once, it seems to always remember the settings. I never understood why it would make a difference and it may just be a glitch we had once and got used to doing it that way, but it might be worth a try if nothing else is working.
