Customize menus-- deleted items reappear

I customized my menus by adding macros to the bottom of the tools menu. I went to delete some of the added menu items, and they delete just fine. However, when I start a new session of SolidWorks the next day, they're back!

When I change the menu, the user.cus file updates. It even seems to record the delete action.

Recommended for you

I have seen this happen before when the system administrator has created restricted user profiles that do not allow the users to write things to the system registry. There are two places that solidworks keeps track of your settings.

Toolbars and such are kept in the system registry on a user by user basis under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/SOLIDWORKS/USER INTERFACE

Other system settings are kept in the c:...solidworks/user/<username>.cus file.

The problem most likely resides in your user permissions and or policies created by the admin. I would recommend that you discuss this with him.

hope that helps

The funny thing is, I was able to do these menu changes for drawing and assembly file menus, but not for parts. Also, it seems random.

I noticed that the *.cus file doesn't seem to exactly record settings. It seems to work more like a macro, recording all of the additions and deletions. The file is getting updated when I make the changes, but they don't stick.
