We are on a project where we have to add an egress window opening to an existing
vintage era (1800's) rubble style stone basement foundation wall. The stones vary in size, and have mortar.
Larges stone is around baseketball size. Smallest is around the size of my kids lunch box. Stones vary
in type....some round river rock looking things, others are blockish, square ended cuts. Stones are local
and appear to be granite based (i.e. hard to cut).
I'm looking at this and have nightmares of how this is going to be cut and not just unravel.
Does anyone have experience with this type of situation? How did you hold things together?
Shotcrete?
Thanks in Advance.
