Hello,

I am unsure, but is it a norm to put some sort of brass cutting oil + Mineral spirt on top of a finished zinc plated part to reduce rusting? is it necessary?

Thank you,
FY

Two galvanization methods, hot galvanization and cold galvanization.

Its helpful but not necessary to added anti-rust oil on cold galvanization part, because anti-rust performance of cold galvanization is not stronger enough for severe environment, its salt spray test time is 24-72 hours.

While not need to use anti-rust oil on hot galvanization parts, its salt spray test time is more than 500 hours.

Applying a light coating of oil or protective fluid over finished zinc-plated parts is a common practice to enhance corrosion resistance, but it may not always be necessary, depending on the environment the part will be exposed to. If your zinc-plated part is exposed to a controlled, low-humidity environment, it may not need an additional coating. But if it will be exposed to high humidity, water, or corrosive elements, applying a light protective coating is advisable.
