1. I wanted to know the difference between thermal cycling and cyclic heat treatment?
2. what kind of equipments are used for above processes?

Waiting for valuable reply, thanks in advance.[dazed]

Thermal cycling involves operational conditions like that experienced by a jet engine or a peaking combustion turbine or boiler. I am not sure of your question re cyclic heat treatment.

Cyclic heat treatment is perhaps related to a series of treatments performed in order to make an alloy achieve particular mechanical, structural, chemical or physical properties. The equipment used in this case is ovens of various kinds (sorry but I'm not an expert :))

As far as thermal cycling is concerned, my guess is that we're talking of thermal loads, i.e. a cyclical variation in temperature (controlled or not) which is capable of harming an equipment. Being a ME, the first example which comes to my mind is the thermal cycle which weld and adjacent areas undergo during welding activities, but I'm sure that thermal cycling is an issue for many a device (and not only mechanical), as stanweld pointed out.

Hope it helps.
