I have a very largy model that I would like to use cyclic symmetry on. About 100' in diameter. It is a cyclic pattern that repeats itself 43 times. I have a 3-D model, but cannot figure how I can add the symmetry constraints.

Can you attach a picture of your model? Or upload it to the engineering.com site using the upload feature of the posting area below?

There are ways to set up local coordinate systems and use boundary conditions, but I would need to have a little better idea of what you are trying to do. Also, what version of Algor are you running?

Any chance you can export an IGES or STEP file. I haven't activated the Alibre software in years...I'm a big SolidWorks user and former AutoDesk user. My experience with Alibre is outdated.

Thanks GBor. You comment on setting up coordinate systems really got me thinking. I figured it out on my own. I set up a cylindrical system, and used theta-symmetry. I am new to Algor still. I have only been using it for a few months, and there are still lots of things for me to figure out....

I just wish that changing the coordinate system was mentioned in the Algor help topics for cyclic symmetry.

Glad that worked. Welcome to the wonderful world of FEA with Algor [smile]
