Damage simulation in Abaqus

I want to simulate damage in Abaqus. I have few questions about this.
1. Can I add damage criteria/evolution with simple elastic-plastic material (in which we just need to provide yld stress-strain values). The manual says Damage can be used with JC, vM plasticity models!

2. I do not have any experimental data for damage initiation/evolution. How do I provide the strain-rate in damage criteria in Static/General simulation? is there a way to obtain the strain-rate from the simulation?

Please help. Any suggestion would be of extreme help. BTW, I read the document at:
ftp://ftp.demec.ufpr.br/disciplinas/TM738/l9-damag...

Thanks a lot in advance,

Regards,

The link didn't work for me. What type of damage are you talking about? Impact damage, penetration, disbonding, delamination, tearing, holes, slots? Damage ain't just "damage". You also need to define the loading regime. For example, delaminations under tension loading are not as significant as delaminations under compression loading.

Thanks for reply. The link was working for me!
By damage I mean, the ductile damage model that is available in Abaqus. I am performing a simulation of beam bending and want to observe damage (reduction in load bearing capacity) in the beam after certain deformation.
