date code insert 1

Can anyone point me toward a mold dating insert (YYMM) that is smaller than 6mm in diameter? DME's smallest date code insert is 6mm, which won't fit in some of our smaller parts. I'd really like to have a date code molded in all of our parts, but I'm pressed for space. If there's a smaller alternative out there I'd like to know about it.

It's called "The DAB" and they do work quite well. Got 50 in a shop for two years. No maintenance. Just built to work. Good luck!

End of year question. How do you convince a customer permanent traceability is a good thing for their products. I'm sure no one has had a corrective action to do on a part that was "made" when they say it was. Any thoughts?

Well, if something changes and goes undetected for a while, traceability allows you to limit the extent (hence cost) of the recall.

Just as a bizarre example, suppose the molder got a truckload of resin that was radioactive? Chances are it would go undetected until some time after it was made into product, and the product reached the end user.
