Dear All ,
What is the the alternative of Hydrostatic Test to Tubes , is it Eddy Current Test ? am I right ? please advise ?
And should be tested as per ASTM E571 , By the way the tube should be manufactured as Per ASTM B165 ?

What testing is required in B165?
Yes it says that you can use either, but if this if Code use then Hydro will be required at some point.
The test acceptance criteria for the ET is in the General spec, B829.
This is the important part since it sets the sensitivity.
It does give the option of using a drill hole or a transverse notch for calibration.
The drilled hole is commonly used on tubing and small pipe, with larger sizes (say over 2") using the notch.
The test methods are E426 or E571, these are just ordinary.
You don't really need to specify anything other than just saying ET, the specs then force you to follow these rules.

My customer Requested from our side to do the following testing without mentioned standard :
- Chemical analysis.
- Mechanical, expansion and hardness
tests.
- Visual inspection & Dimensions check.
- Hydrostatic Test or its alternative
(nondestructive electric test) that
performed for the full body of each
tube
plus testing for raw materials
Mill proposed the following testing
1. Eddy Current test
2. 20C tensile
3. Product Analysis
4. Check dimensions
5. Visual inspect
6.Hardness test (one per batch/heat)

its covered or missing some testing please advise

Is that how your QA people read the spec?
Then go with it.
It looks right to me.
These are old specs and are very poor.
I can't believe that there are no flatten or flare test requirements.

From My side we Prepare this list , is it enough to grants the tubes will be manufactured with high quality
Chemical Analysis
1. Test Method for Chemical Analysis as Per ASTM E76.
2. Chemical Composition: shall conform to the composition limit specified in ASTM B165 Table.
3. Sampling: For Chemical Analysis representative samples from each lot should be taken during Pouring or processing.
4. Number of Test: Chemical analysis one Test per lot.
5. Tolerance: please specify the tolerance.
Mechanical and other requirement
1. Tension Test: The material shall conform to the tensile properties specified in ASTM B165 Table .

2. Hydrostatic or Nondestructive Electric Test—Each pipe or tube shall be subjected to either the hydrostatic test or the nondestructive electric test. The type of test to be used shall be at the option of the manufacturer.
3. Sampling : Mechanical and other Properties—Samples of the material to provide test specimens for mechanical and other properties shall be taken from such locations in each lot as to be representative of that lot. Test specimens shall be taken from material in the final condition.
4. Hydrostatic or Nondestructive Electric Test—Each piece in each lot. Test As per ASTM B829
5. Tension—One test per lot.

1. Flare Test as per ASTM B 829 (5.1)

Hardness Test

Please advise if its covers or need to added more tests
