Dear All,

I am working on a research about Debutanizer operations in a hydrocracker unit in an Oil Refinery. The research is intended to explain to readers without process background the basic operations of the debutanizer.

I just wanted to check if you anyone could please help me with any researches done to explain the operation process of a standard debutanizer or any websites that could help me in my reasearch.

Thanks for the help.

A debutanizer is a distillation column which aims to separate C1-C4 components from C5+ components. Butane (C4H10) is the light key (the heaviest light).

"We don't believe things because they are true, things are true because we believe them."

The Debutanizer separates C4‘s from C5‘s and heavier from the
Depropanizer bottoms which is feed to the column. The feed to
the Debutanizer is the Depropanizer bottoms. The
overhead stream is the mixed C4's product and is sent to storage.
