Can you put an image (.jpg,.bmp, etc.) such as a Logo for example on a model and save as an eDrawings file? Do you have to have Photoworks to be able to use decals? Seems like it should come with the base package like it does in INVENTOR.

Thanks,

Tom

PhotoWorks does decals... you can try and make a texture and have that on the model and save it as a edrawings and it show up.

Yes you have to have PhotoWorks to be able to use Decals, and I agree it would be nice to have this in the basic package.

Submit an ER if you want to see this added. It may never happen but, "if you don't ask, you don't get".

Thanks for the Info on Decaling CorBlimey. Now I can quit banging my head trying to make it work without Photoworks!
Obviously they have chosen this route in order to sell you on the full blown package which I do not have.

When I've needed decals on assemblies, I've simply made them as parts. Super thin extrusions with extruded text also super thin. It gets a little more difficult if you have graphics on the decal, but it'll help you improve your sketching skills.

You may be able to use the Sketch Picture function if the surface is flat.
Open a sketch, Tools > Sketch Tools > Sketch Picture.

You cannot be show the sketch picture in a drawing though.
Another ER?

JMirisola: That's exactly what I do now is trace the outline of the Logo in a Sketch Picture and micro extrude cut (.0001") it. Then I change the color of the logo and it looks like a lable. I use the extrude "offset from surface" and check "reverse offset" which works nice on a curved surface.

CorBlimey: I am happy to request for SolidWorks Corporation to add it but it might take a petition with 10,000 signatures to get their attention.
